Standards-Aligned Lessons for Math, STEM, ELA and CTE

Each lesson connects an academic or career skill to a space students can physically experience. Instead of teaching area, scale, measurement, circulation, or design only through abstract examples, teachers can give students a full-size environment in which to test their reasoning.

Big Floor Plans prints a building or room layout at true 1:1 scale on durable, weather-resistant material. Students can stand inside the rooms, follow printed routes, measure walls, compare clearances, place objects, gather data, and test design decisions using their own bodies as part of the learning process.

This approach supports hands-on, experiential, spatial, and movement-based learning without turning the activity into a race or athletic event. Movement is used deliberately to help students observe relationships that may be difficult to understand from a small drawing alone.

Safe, Walk-Pace Classroom Activities

All activities are intended to be completed at a calm, controlled walking pace. Students should not run, race, slide, or engage in uncontrolled movement on the printed surface. Teachers remain responsible for supervision, accessibility, site selection, weather conditions, and compliance with school safety procedures.

Lessons can be taught on any suitable flat surface, including a gym, cafeteria, parking lot, athletic field, baseball diamond, paved area, or school green space. Most full-house plans are best used outdoors because they may be larger than a single classroom.

Print orders include lawn staples and a mallet for anchoring the material on grass. Indoor users should secure the print using a method approved for the facility and surface.

Start with a School-Friendly Print Size

Schools do not need to purchase an extremely large plan or provide a separate print for every student. One reusable print can support multiple classes, subjects, grade levels, and school years.

A tiny-home plan of approximately 160 to 250 square feet generally costs around $100 to $113. A small house plan of approximately 1,000 to 1,200 square feet generally costs around $450 to $540. CTE programs may also print only the instructional zone they need, such as a kitchen, shop bay, retail space, mechanical room, or hospitality area.

Pricing is $0.45 per square foot with a $100 minimum order. Schools may submit their own scaled PDF or begin with an available sample plan, so architectural drawings are not required to start exploring the lesson library.
