Big Floor Plans does not engineer, approve, locate or establish posts, columns, footings, foundations or structural field positions. The National Frame Building Association describes post-frame construction as an engineered wood-frame building system that uses large solid-sawn or laminated columns rather than conventional wall studs as the primary vertical framing system. A Big Floor Plan does not convert architectural information into structural design. Sam Derrickson's documented project was a slab-on-grade custom home in Effingham, Illinois, not a barndominium. It is included here only as adjacent evidence for the value of reviewing a proposed building physically before the foundation or slab is committed.

After walking the home at full 1:1 scale on the actual lot, Derrickson reported that the house orientation changed by roughly 60 degrees from what he had pictured. How the Barndominium Walkthrough Process Works

1. Send the Current Scaled PDF

Send Big Floor Plans the current scaled PDF of the barndominium or shouse layout. Vector PDFs are preferred when available. Plans originating in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, post-frame design software or similar systems should be exported to PDF before submission.

2. Review the Digital Proof

Big Floor Plans typically prepares a production proof in about 48 hours after receiving usable project information. Review scale, printed area, orientation, requested labels, calibration information and customer-supplied reference markings before approval.

3. Production and Shipping

Typical production is five to seven business days after proof approval. FedEx Ground shipping is separate, and plans ship folded for deployment on the project site or another suitable review surface.

4. Walk, Document and Return Decisions to the Project Team

Use the physical walkthrough to identify unresolved questions. Approved changes should be resolved by the appropriate project professionals and incorporated into the current governing drawings and project information.
