Big Floor Plans serves K-12 schools, CTE and trade programs, university architecture departments, special education classrooms, occupational therapy clinics, museums and science centers, and homeschool co-ops across the United States. The product is a life-size 1:1 walkable floor plan — a 1:1 scale classroom tool printed on durable, weatherproof synthetic material with a 6-inch-tall perimeter calibration ruler featuring standard tape-measure markings. The same physical product supports a wide range of educational applications, from embodied STEM learning for elementary students to real-scale spatial training for high school CTE construction trades and university architecture studios.
For K–12 STEM instruction, full-scale floor plans can turn topics such as geometry, scale, ratio, perimeter, area and proportional reasoning into physical measurement and problem-solving activities. Research has found relationships between spatial skills and STEM learning and indicates that spatial skills can be improved through training. These findings support teaching spatial reasoning; they do not prove that a specific Big Floor Plans print will produce a guaranteed academic result.
CTE & Construction Trade Education
CTE and construction-trades programs can use full-scale plans for activities involving blueprint reading, measurement, estimating, framing layout, electrical and plumbing planning, accessibility studies and scale verification. Individual lesson activities may be mapped to Perkins V, NCCER, HBI PACT or locally adopted CTE requirements when the instructor verifies the applicable competencies and standards.

Architectural Drafting & University Architecture
For high school drafting and university architecture programs, full-scale floor plans can help students compare a drawing with physical space at true 1:1 scale. For museums, children's museums, and science centers, walkable floor plans serve as rotating interactive exhibits, STEM festival activities, history-tie-in installations (walk a tiny house, a colonial home, a historic building footprint), and permanent additions to architecture and engineering galleries. The plan ships folded in manageable packaging, can be deployed for programming and stored compactly between uses — ideal for museums and science centers with rotating exhibits, STEM events, and recurring educational programs.
Homeschool Co-ops & Community Programs
For homeschool co-ops, after-school programs, scout programs, and community centers, pooled funding can make full-scale spatial learning available outside a traditional school-district budget. When the printed design remains applicable to the instructional activity and the material remains suitable for continued use, the same plan may support multiple classes, age groups, programs, or school years. Additional appropriate uses can distribute the initial print cost across more instructional sessions without requiring a fixed reuse count.
Funding Pathways for Education Orders
Potential funding pathways may include district-administered ESSA Title IV-A funding, Perkins V funding for approved CTE activities, state or local STEM programs, education foundations, PTA or PTO support and competitive grants. Eligibility, allowable expenses, deadlines and award amounts can change. Schools should confirm current requirements with the official program and the appropriate district administrator before requesting funds.
Pricing
Big Floor Plans pricing is $0.45 per printed square foot with a $100 minimum order. There is no separate minimum square footage, so a small instructional area can simply price up to the $100 minimum.
Approximate print-price examples are $675 for 1,500 printed square feet, $1,350 for 3,000 printed square feet and $2,250 for 5,000 printed square feet before shipping. Schools do not need to print an entire building and may select only the instructional area required for the program.
Larger school, campus or museum layouts can be reviewed for production and may be divided into coordinated printed sections when appropriate. Final printable area, panel configuration, packaging, shipping and production requirements are confirmed after Big Floor Plans reviews the PDF. Shipping is calculated separately.
How It Works
Send a PDF of the floor plan along with any custom branding, logos, lesson content, or annotations the program wants printed. CAD files (DWG, DXF, RVT, SKP) need to be exported to PDF first — most architecture software handles this natively. Big Floor Plans returns a digital proof for review in approximately 48 hours. After proof approval, typical production is approximately 5–7 business days, followed by FedEx Ground shipping; delivery timing varies by destination and project configuration.
Verified Deployment: Marathon Area School District, Wisconsin
Marathon Area School District in Wisconsin uses Big Floor Plans through its STEM Education department, with students and teachers walking the full-scale sample house plan inside the school gymnasium for spatial learning, scale and proportion exercises, and architecture-related curriculum.
