An ADU floor plan walkthrough is a physical review of an accessory dwelling unit at the same scale at which it is intended to be constructed.
Instead of trying to interpret the ADU from a small plan sheet or digital screen, the homeowner and project team walk across a printed version showing the walls, rooms, doors, windows, cabinets, fixtures, appliances, furniture, and other requested design information at actual size.
A walkthrough can support detached ADUs, attached ADUs, garage conversions, basement conversions, backyard cottages, guest houses, in-law suites, multigenerational housing, rental units, JADUs, tiny houses on foundations, and tiny houses on wheels.
Walk the ADU on the Actual Property
An accessory dwelling unit must work as an interior layout and as a second structure or living space on an existing property.
Installing the print on the actual lot helps the project team understand how the proposed ADU relates to the primary residence, driveway, yard, neighboring properties, views, privacy, outdoor areas, parking, utility routes, and site circulation.
Review the Relationship to the Main House
Walk between the main residence and the proposed ADU entrance.
Consider how residents, guests, tenants, caregivers, service providers, and emergency personnel may move between the buildings or around the property.

Review Independent and Shared Areas
Walk the planned entrance, sleeping space, food-preparation area, storage, and bathroom route.
Discuss which areas are private, which may be shared with the main residence, and whether the circulation supports the intended household arrangement.
Test Multigenerational Use
A JADU may be intended for an adult child, parent, caregiver, guest, renter, or another member of a multigenerational household.
Invite the intended resident to walk the plan when possible. Their routines, furniture, mobility, storage, privacy expectations, and daily activities should inform the design.
Tiny House on Foundation Walkthroughs
A tiny house on a permanent foundation can be reviewed in the same manner as a compact ADU.

A horizontal floor print cannot represent loft height, roof slope, stair rise, guard conditions, or vertical clearances. Those requirements must be reviewed through sections, elevations, code analysis, and professional design.
Review Emergency-Exit Locations
The print can show the horizontal location of windows and doors intended for emergency escape or rescue.
It does not verify opening size, sill height, hardware, clear opening, exterior landing conditions, or code compliance.
Tiny House on Wheels Walkthroughs
A tiny house on wheels must fit its interior program within the dimensions and structural limitations of the selected trailer chassis.
The walkthrough can show the trailer footprint, wheel wells, structural zones, utility locations, rooms, fixtures, cabinetry, furniture, storage, stairs, loft access, and other planned features at actual size.

A full-scale printed floor plan is a planning, visualization, and communication tool.
It does not design the ADU, provide stock house plans, certify zoning approval, confirm setbacks, determine allowable size, establish rental legality, approve utility connections, or guarantee a permit.
It does not replace the architect, residential designer, engineer, surveyor, builder, energy professional, accessibility consultant, code official, planning department, fire authority, utility provider, or other authority having jurisdiction.
The print primarily represents horizontal relationships. It does not fully reproduce ceiling heights, loft clearances, roof geometry, slopes, structure, lighting, sound, ventilation, waterproofing, drainage, insulation, or final field conditions.

Big Floor Plans prints customer-provided plans. It does not create or sell stock ADU or tiny-home designs.

Review the Digital Proof
Big Floor Plans prepares a production proof showing the plan, scale, orientation, requested labels, and reference information.
The customer and project team should verify all important information before approving production.
Print, Ship and Walk the Design
ADU and Tiny Home Floor Plan Pricing
After proof approval, typical production is approximately five to seven business days.
The completed plan is shipped through FedEx Ground and deployed on a suitable surface for the walkthrough.
Standard full-scale floor-plan printing costs $0.45 per square foot with a $100 minimum order. There is no separate minimum square footage; smaller projects simply price up to the $100 minimum.
An 800-square-foot ADU is approximately $360 before shipping. A 400-square-foot tiny home is approximately $180 before shipping.
